Catalogue of a one lot auction: The Red Ribbon’s of the Earth, a Picture-story book of the Long March. Illustrated with 58 illustrations reproducing illustrations by Shen Raoiyi.
Shen Yaoyi was born in Shanghai in 1943. He graduated from High School Affiliated to the Central Academy of Fine Arts and Li Hua Studio of Department of Printmaking, the Central Academy of Fine Arts, in 1961 and 1966 respectively. He has devoted to artistic teaching and artistic creation. From 1973 to 2009, he served as Professor and Doctoral Supervisor in Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Stage Art, National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts and School of Arts, Renmin University of China. Shen is currently Honourary Chair of Comic Strip Art Committee under China Artists Association, and Member of National Artistic Creation Committee on Major Themes.
The Red Ribbon on the Earth is an illustrated work with 926 pictures. ShenYaoyi spent six years working in the 1980s and 1990s, revised according to the novel of the same title by famous author Wei Wei, it depicts truly the mettle and heroism of the Chinese worker-peasant’s Red Army on the road of the 25000 Li Long March.
